Kidston's 2021 Holiday Newsletter

Happy Holidays!

In 2021, we had the privilege of returning to in-person camping for the first time in almost two years. It was absolutely incredible to welcome campers to Kidston once again, hear their laughter throughout camp, share in the joy and fun of new games and adventures, and listen to the echoes of camp songs across the lake. While the pandemic continued to impact camp in many ways, our staff and campers shared immense gratitude for the time they were able to spend together after so long apart.

Although the pandemic continues to bring uncertainty to many aspects of our daily lives, we remain beyond grateful for the support of our extended community throughout this year.

Thank you for being a part of Kidston - we can't wait to see you again in 2022!

Our Year in Review

  • We welcomed 229 campers to Kidston for in-person summer programs in July and August. Both campers and staff were thrilled to be back!

  • We offered school programs for the first time this fall, welcoming multiple school groups to Kidston for overnight camping experiences.

  • As pandemic restrictions change, we have been able to host a variety of church, non-profit, and professional rental groups at Kidston.

  • On our site, much-needed renovations and replacements have been completed. Cabins were painted, the staffhouse kitchen was upgraded, painting and organizing has happened throughout the Wilson lodge, new trails have been cleared, and more!

  • With the generous support of many donors and community members, new mattresses were purchased and installed in every bunk.

  • Hundreds of volunteer hours have generously been shared by many people: at work parties, on committees, and on the Board.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support from each and everyone of you: camp families, staff, alumni, volunteers, and community members. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Fundraising Update

We are pleased to share the success of our waterfront revitalization campaign – thank you for your generous support to help us reach this important goal! We have now surpassed $5,000 in donations, and will continue fundraising into the early new year. Donations can be made at anytime via our online Canada Helps page located here.

We look forward to sharing updates and photos in Spring 2022 once we receive our new docks and equipment!
