ABOUT US

As an accredited member of the Camping Association of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (CANSPEI) and The United Church of Canada, Camp Kidston has been building meaningful outdoor experiences for children and youth for more than 55 years!

Founded in 1966, Kidston is located on over 460 acres of woods and water in the northeast corner of Halifax Regional Municipality - and it is the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life!

At Camp Kidston, we are committed to creating a just, nurturing environment in which all are fully free to be themselves.  We welcome and honour the beautiful diversity of all people reflected in race, colour, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.

A week of summer camp at Camp Kidston allows children and youth to develop new friendships, independence, and leadership skills through out-tripping, environmental education, sports and games, swimming, low elements, arts and crafts, canoeing and kayaking, faith exploration, and more.

Camp Kidston also provides year-round community events, facility rentals, and facilitated school programs.

MEET OUR TEAM

Janice Noble, Executive Director

After graduating from UNB's Renaissance College with a degree in Interdisciplinary Leadership, Janice returned home to Kidston to share her passion for camp year-round.  Throughout the past five years, Janice has worked with hundreds of campers and staff members, expanded Kidston's off-season programs, and worked hard to ensure everyone who comes through Kidston's gate has a positive camp experience.  In her free time, Janice volunteers with numerous community groups and can be found climbing, running, or paddling.

Janice is passionate about giving back to the camp community, and currently volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Camping Association of Nova Scotia and PEI.  Her love for camp is contagious, and her favourite parts of Kidston include paddling on the lake, playing gaga ball, and overnight out-trips!

Janice is happy to connect and can be reached at director@campkidston.com!

Jessie Daigle, Summer Director

This summer will be Jessie's 12th summer at Kidston!  She is currently studying Nursing at St. FX, and is excited to share her leadership, passion for working with youth, and love of camp with everyone this summer.

Her favourite parts of Kidston are canoeing on the lake, campfire, and out-trip, but most of all, she loves the energy of the campers and the connections made at Kidston every week of the summer!  She can't wait to see returning campers and meet lots of new ones soon!

Jessie is happy to answer questions about summer programs and can be reached at jdaigle@campkidston.com!

Each year, a diverse team of staff work together to welcome children and youth to Kidston's programs.  Our staff are genuine, enthusiastic, creative, caring - and most importantly - passionate about camp!  All staff go through a thorough hiring and screening process (including Criminal Record Checks and Child Abuse Registry Checks) to ensure our campers have a safe and positive camping experience.

Our summer team includes cabin counsellors, trained lifeguards and Paddle Canada instructors, program staff, First Aid, admin, and kitchen staff.
